Dees Finds and Sonyas Baskets

Sonya has been with me almost from the start, we opened the shop in 1997, she joined us about a year later.  This year Sonya turned 80, she has had some health issues and told me this would be her last year of basket weaving, if you don't have one of her baskets, you really should get one, American locally made and very reasonable.
Dee noticed she would bring in a tool and it would quickly disappear, so shes been gathering up a few tools.

This is a push up candlestick similar to the others we had, very nice old one.
The jar of pincushions are part of our sewing section.

Could This be the Year for the Tallow Berries?

It was back in 2003, when some of my primitive friends and customers decided we should have a Gathering, and they invited Jimsey and I to tour their homes, what a fun day that was, we  had a blast.  The homes were all wonderful.  When we toured Lisa's home, she had a tallow berry tree, and there were seedlings all around it, so she dug Jimsey and I up one, here it is 9 years later.  We have gotten a few off it the last couple years but we are hoping this year, we will have even more.   They are usually ready to cut around November.
Here is a close up.  See the wormy looking things?
And here we are, remember this was 9 years ago, we have changed somewhat through the years, I am sure you recognize some of the faces from open houses.
Thats me in the front left, then Libby Fisher, Cynthia George, back row from left is Lisa Stanley, Jimsey Johnson, and Lonese Powell.
Ok, I need to add that my very good friend Barb Pyatt was with us that day, and it seems shes the one that took the picture, I am sorry Barb, we love you!!!!

We really have the best customers....

We appreciate all our customers, many travel hours to get to the shop, and it really makes our hearts smile to know they love our shop enough to travel hours to get there.  So many have become like family to us, I must say, we are truly blessed.
Mike and Camille come with treats for Benny, treats for Tiger and treats for us, plus they brought me the plants in the picture below.

Last week two of my ladies from Seven Lakes came, and Ruth brought me this, not sure what it was in its other life, but now its a beautiful planter on my fence.
I love my job and all my wonderful customers!

More New Oldies....

We got this nice red settle bench, we don't seem to find these very often and when we do, they fly out the door. SOLD!!!!
We found another dry sink, this one has a flip up top, we haven't had one like this one before, the corners of the top are dovetailed, I don't know why, but I love dovetailing, just to know they put that extra work into it, and the knobs turn to lock the doors, just a nice old piece from Pa.

We have had several people in looking for wire egg baskets, we have some of them and also we have found some more wooden ladders.

New Old Items...

This chest is made from poplar and its been grain painted, the sides are one board and are 20 inch wide boards.  Nice early piece, looks almost like a grain bin, but its too clean for that, most likely it was a blanket chest.
This bench is a big one, its 87 inches long, over 7 ft, we were told it was from an estate in Pa.

Tool Chest/Coffee Table

We have had this tool chest as our coffee table in our tv room for about 10 years, we are replacing it with another one, its a nice heavy duty one with nice hardware(handles).  Kinda hard to part with it, like saying goodbye to a family member, but we really have no more room.  So its looking for a new home, I had it full of magazines, books and fabric(which I need to go through as well).
Just a reminder, we will be closed on Mothers Day.
Oh and I just got the new Country Samplers in, and right there on page 37 is a hog trough!  We love those!
CHEST IS SOLD!!!

Sellers, Hoosier, whatever you want to call it.....

It is finished and in the shop, finally.  I spent two days removing the cutesy country blue flowered contact paper....that stuff did not want to leave this cupboard!!!!  Then we had to take the paint off the inside, Herb spent several days on this, finally its in the shop, looking for a new home.  We have a book on these style cabinets and from what we can tell this is a Sellers.  This one probably dates to about 1920, close to being 100 years old.
Someone emailed me about the Cameron Fair, its always the first Saturday in May, and the first Saturday in October, we won't be there this show, but our good friends Barb and Giles will be there.
On your way home, stop and see us here at the shop.

Garden Guys

Herb made these garden guys a few years ago, one I call Ed Sullivan....his shoulders remind me of him, I am sure most of you have no clue who I am talking about.(We have a really big shew!)
And this guy, hes a "Playa", always beggin for a hug!
We won't be doing Cameron this spring, something there I am allergic to in the spring and if I do it, on Sunday I suffer all day, and of course Herbs back is still kinda bothering him, so ......Barb and Giles will be there, and I heard a rumor hes done some Garden Guys....so if your wanting one, hit their booth first.

I Am A Slacker......

Well, not really just have neglected my blog, and my emails for the shop.  Sometimes people ask why we aren't open on Tuesday and Wednesday, here are a few of the projects we have been working on this week, on our days off.....
Thats a wheelbarrow Herb did for a customer, its almost finished(my new truck in the background).
This is a church pew I have been working on.
This is one of the end pieces, wonder if that was lead paint?
This is an oak hoosier I worked on all day today, someone had lined the inside with "cute" blue flowered contact paper that I am taking off with a heat gun and putty knife....its a slow process.
This is Herbs project....he had to put a new gas line on this lawn mower, its going to Casey's tomorrow.
The roses are really starting to bloom....pretty huh?  That red pump was a Christmas present from Chad and Meredith.....no, its not for sale.
Ok, these are my excuses for missing from the Bloggin World, I will try to do better, promise.
