Lots of New Things!

After the holidays the shop was getting pretty empty, but with two market trips and some antiquing trips, we are filling it back up, and there is more to come.  I made some calls yesterday and the vendors I ordered from assured me the rest will be here for spring open house, March 3.
 Linens from Family Heirloom Weavers....
A cupboard we bought and redid, its not old, but whoever made it put alot of heart into it, we just didn't like the light finish so we did it in black over red.  This is a cantback.

I don't usually buy white, but at the antique show we were at, this was the only cupboard we saw that we liked.  It would look really nice in a garden room.
I bought several nice old scales from another shopkeeper, this is one of them.

We bought this cupboard from a lady, and it must have been in an leaky barn at one time, one side and the top were in bad shape, Herb replaced the top and part of the right side with some old boards and you can hardly tell, its a really nice old one, think its my favorite in the shop right now, and if I had a place for it, it would be here at home, cuz I LOVE it!

New and Back in Stock....

This is a table top desk we picked up a couple weeks ago, it had no bottom in it, so Herb fixed that.
This is the sweetest double pine childs desk, guess the lady that used to own it had twin grandchildren, it has the inkwell on one side and the top lifts on each side.  The pine has really nice wear to it.
This is one of Herbs farm tables he makes, and we have a two ended measure on it, filled with gourds.
I saw this in an antique mall, and thought it was so cute, and copied it, its an old rake head holding wine glasses.  Thought that was a cute idea.
We have some of Giles log cabin birdhouses back in stock, they may retire these, so if you want one, now is the time.  This one above is pretty much like the one that was on the cover of Mercantile Gatherings.
Yes, we found some ladders, had to go to Ohio to get them.
Below is another one of Giles birdhouses.
Come see us!

Trip to an Auction....

This past week we went to an auction, we haven't been to one in years, it was very interesting.  Most of what was there was way above and beyond our budget.  We did manage to buy this pine sawbuck table, not sure of the age, but it is made of old wood, and has great patina.

We saw this piece of pottery sell for
$20,000. When the bidding ended, everyone clapped.
We saw a rifle sell for $4400, there was an older lady sitting next to Herb who bought a piece of pottery for $3200, and she told him she would have paid much more, I saw her after she paid for it and she was smiling from ear to ear, and hugging on to that piece of pottery like a baby. I enjoyed it, even though we were way out of our league.

Made In Amerca!

Did you see the news the other night, when Diane Sawyer was talking about buying American made and how just spending about $64.00 can create 200,000 jobs?  Here is the link...
We have many Made in America here at Just Country, some done right here in NC.

This snowman is done by Georgia, here in NC.
These Santas were made in Michigan by my friend,  Brunie.  The little red bench was made in Tennessee.
 Another Brunie santa.
This shelf with the quilt crane was made in Ohio and the snowmen on the mantel are American made as well.
These linens were handwoven in Pa.
Snowmen and sign, Made in USA!
 Dee made this Gingerbread Wreath.
 Santa was made in Tennessee.
