Whew....almost ready!

Here are a few shots, there are santas and snowmen everywhere! Don't you love Dee's checkerboards? We have lots of trees, wreaths.....we are overflowing with wonderful handmades this year.
We are having a sale in the tent, lots of items marked way down. And of course the Red Shed will be open and its really lookin good. We will have 4 registers running, two in the tent and Denise and I in the shop.
After Open House we will be open everyday, until Christmas Eve, with the exception of Thanksgiving, of course.
Hope you can come see us this weekend, tomorrow 10-5 and Sunday, 1-5!

Onion Bottles

We just got in some onion bottles, these are of course reproductions, but they sure are pretty, and hand blown, pretty green color. The original onion bottles date from the 1700's, and are hard to find. They were used to hold wine. Look nice mixed in with your primitives.
The shop is coming along, we are getting there, still alot to do. But we will be ready for you on Saturday with lots of wonderful primitives, both old and new, that you have not seen before, I don't think you will be disappointed.
After Open House, we will be open every day, with the exception of Thanksgiving, until Christmas Eve.

In Another Life......

This was a cement smoothing tool, but don't they make wonderful towel holders?
I often wonder what my Grandmother, Addie Grace would think if she saw some of the things we do, coffee dying to make things look old, using mule bits, and cement tools for towel holders, what would she say? Oh she was a character and its hard to say what would come out of her mouth!
Must admit the cement towel holder idea came from my good friend Brenda!

And we are getting closer and closer.....Dee, Herb and I worked on the Red Shed this week, and its really coming together! Will take a pic tomorrow, hopefully. The Shed will be closed this weekend, since we have already started decorating it. Remember we will be open this weekend, then will close on Monday and be closed all week and reopen on Saturday. We are having the open house two days this year, Saturday and Sunday.

Open House, Just Two Weeks Away!

Hard to believe that our Christmas Open House is just two weeks away! Where does the time go? The other day Herb says, "do you have more coming in?", I said "Yes, why?", then he says, "Well, I don't know where your going to put it, the upstairs is running over". And hes right, it is! Today Dee worked up there making wreaths, and a wonderful centerpiece with these fantastic lights we just got in. I saw these at market and thought they were so cool, they are tiny rice like lights on stems, everyone in the showroom was ordering them and one lady told me that she couldn't get them in fast enough, so we shall see what you think. I tried to take a picture, but its so hard to tell anything from them, and they don't look as cool with fall sprigs as they do with Christmas greenery. We have some wonderful handmades that I think you will love! They are from all over, and some from here in NC too! Of course Dees wreaths are the best, and shes been doing lots! We also just got in some of those rice lights with the switch that you can change the settings on to make them chase, flicker, fade, and well.....there are 8 different settings, but boring ol me, I like the steady burn the best. We sold out of these last year and I wasn't able to get anymore, the company had sold out as well. Anyway this will be our 13th open house and I think its going to be the best one yet!
I will post a pic of the light stems, but they are much better in person.
Remember the open house will be on Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 1-5, November 7 & 8.

Cameron Antique Show

Well Liberty is past and this Saturday is Cameron, and looks like the weather is going to be perfect, unless some crazy front moves in, but for now its lookin good. Yesterday I spent the day working on 3 ladders, took chunks and splatters of paint off them, now they are nice and clean and ready to hang a quilt on whatever on. We have a stepback we are taking, not a large one, this has glass doors at the top, its nice. We have an open cupboard, no doors, great display piece, Herb is making a farm table, all from old wood, this table was square before and he is making it more rectangle, using some wonderful old boards that nearly killed us to cut. Anyway, we will have some furniture that hasn't been seen, plus we will take a few that have been in the shop. Stop and say "Hey", we love seeing everyone out and about having a good time

Nice Old Cradle

Wanted to share this cradle we have in the shop with you, its a really early one, and its all hand dovetailed. In the one picture, you can see the dovetailing, and the scribe marks used to mark how deep to cut into the wood. What a nice piece of history.
If it could talk, I am sure it would have some tales to tell.

What have I Done?

I posted lots of pics yesterday, but for some reason no one got a link to it, I think I was clicking where I shouldn't have been, anyway, I was doing some clicking again this morning, and I am hoping I fixed it, hope I haven't messed it up even more.
Should I take my camera to the shop with me today? Think I may.
Oh, the 7th picture down is of some cards that Sherrie has done up, lots of primitive shots, you need to check them out.
I sure am lovin this weather!

Cameron Antique Fair

Looks like we will be doing the fair after all. We had heard that the place we set up wasn't going to participate this year, so we had pretty much decided to let it go and maybe go as shoppers this time, but the low and behold, yesterday we got our application in the mail, so looks like we will be there, in our regular spot.
Mark your calendars, it will be on Saturday, October 3.
I feel bad, someone called me the other day wanting the information so they could rent a spot and I told her they weren't doing it anymore, now I find they are, so if you read this, call me back and I will give you the information on who to contact for a spot.
Lets hope it a pretty fall day!

I Think I Can....Petunia

My friend Joyce was having a fit the other day about this little petunia, growing out of the concrete in front of the shop, its hard to see because of the shadow, but we water, we fertilize and weed to have flowers, and there in the middle of concrete, I guess a bird did a hmmmm .....dropping? And up grows a petunia, wish you could see it better. I guess you could call it an "I think I can Petunia".
Remember we are closed on Monday, hope you have a wonderful weekend!
